Life After Death? German Startup Freezes Bodies in Hopes of Future Revival

‘Tomorrow Bio’—Europe’s first cryopreservation startup—freezes bodies in liquid nitrogen with the goal of reviving them in the future.

German Startup Is Freezing Deceased Bodies for Bizarre Future Plan

Germany-based startup Tomorrow Bio has established an intriguing business that involves freezing persons and pets to resurrect them as technology progresses. The company, the first of its sort in Europe, already had 650 customers. They had frozen five dogs and six humans, with each cryopreservation costing £170,000. Preserving just the brain costs £63,000.

The Future of Cryonics: German Startup Freezing Bodies for Bold New Plan

Fernando Azevedo Pinheiro, who founded the company in 2020, told the Daily Mail, “Personally, I believed that within my lifetime — I was 40 years old — we might witness the safe cryopreservation and reanimation of complex organisms.” He added, “Personally, I believed that within my lifetime — I was 40 years old — we might witness the safe cryopreservation and reanimation of complex organisms.”

Knewz.com investigated the most important step, which was to start the preservation process as soon as death occurred to prevent natural decomposition. Once a person was legally declared dead, the company sent its field staff to collect the body. The body was placed in ice baths in specialized ambulances, and oxygen was used to reduce the impact of the decomposition process. The body was then transferred to Tomorrow Bio’s storage facility in Switzerland.

Once at the main storage facility, the body was chilled from -112°F to -320°F, which took around 10 days. The body was then moved to a steel container filled with liquid nitrogen. The customer’s body was then kept in the container for hundreds of years, waiting for new technology to allow revival. If revival occurred sooner and the customer’s payments remained valid, the company promised to return any remaining funds.

In addition to freezing human bodies, the service was also used to preserve beloved pets, and the majority of existing customers were relatively young, with an average age of 36. The company was on a long-term mission and had no plans to sell, as customers had trusted it for centuries.

The company’s CEO, Dr. Emil Kendziorra, told Tech. Eu, “The company will never be sold. So, all our investors need to be okay with this. They received dividends but not sales profits. It was a long-term mission.” He highlighted the growing popularity of the business, saying, “If you are cremated, you have zero chance of revival, but if you are cryopreserved, the chance is more than zero.”

the biggest concentration of lucid thinkers surrounding the subject of aging is present in the cryonics field

Cryogenics was a fascinating field that had already piqued the interest of consumers through fiction films. Despite the uncertainty of the future, people were prepared to spend in the promise of being revived and reborn.
